The flip side to yesterday’s post is that there are many things about London that couldn’t be more different from their counterparts in Uganda, and are quite different from the US as well.
Here’s one very obvious example: Street signs.
As I noted earlier, street names, much less street signs are quite rare in Uganda, except in areas frequented by expats. But in London, little stretches of pavement that are little more than alleys or stairways merit both a name and a sign to match. Just in the vicinity of King’s Strand campus one finds the following:
‘Are such “streets” on Google Maps?’ you ask. Some of them are!!!
